Megan Murphy Kenny, violinist, holds a Master of Music degree in violin performance from the Yale School of Music, where she was a Harry and Margaret Simeone Scholar and recipient of the Harriet G. Fox Memorial Prize, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.  Her teachers have included Syoko Aki, Carolyn Plummer, and William Haroutounian.  Ms. Kenny has performed in master classes for artists such as Almida and Roland Vamos, Pamela Frank, and the Muir Quartet and she received chamber coachings from Martin Beaver of the Tokyo Quartet while at Yale.  She is a recipient of the National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellowship. An active orchestral musician, Ms. Kenny has performed with such orchestras as the Boston Philharmonic, Civic Symphony Orchestra of Boston (Associate Concertmaster), String Orchestra of the Rockies, Opera Carolina, and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra in their 2003 Carnegie Hall performance.  She returned to Carnegie’s Weill Hall in April 2009 with David Michael Wolff to perform in the New York debut of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1 as arranged by Frederick Chopin for piano soloist and string quintet.  Ms. Kenny is currently a member of the Carolina Philharmonic and the Fayetteville Symphony and performs regularly as a freelance musician throughout the southeast.  As a soloist and chamber musician, Ms. Kenny performs annually as a faculty member of the Red Lodge Music Festival and was recently featured as a guest artist with the Meritage Quartet in a concert series throughout Montana.  This summer she will also join the faculty of the Vermont Music and Arts Center.  In addition to maintaining a private teaching studio, she is a faculty member of the Snyder Music Academy in Fayetteville, NC and an adjunct faculty member at University of North Carolina Pembroke.
