Chris Dickey, Tuba/Euphonium

Chris DickeyChris Dickey, a Miraphone Performing Artist, is an artist-teacher of tuba and euphonium in the United States. Currently, he is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Music at Washington State University. In addition to teaching graduate and undergraduate tuba-euphonium studio, he conducts the brass ensemble, teaches music literature and brass techniques courses, coaches chamber music, and performs in the faculty brass quintet. An active recitalist, teacher, and guest artist, Dr. Dickey has performed throughout the United States, South America, and Asia. He serves on the Board of Directors for the International Tuba-Euphonium Association and is the coordinator of the Composer Friends Project. Dr. Dickey maintains a busy performance schedule with orchestras, recitals, brass bands, and guest master classes around the Northwest and throughout the United States. His debut tuba and euphonium album, Just a Thought, was released in June 2015. Dickey is a founding member of the In Motus Tuba Quartet, and the quartet’s first album was released in spring 2016 under the Emeritus Recordings label. Dr. Dickey’s numerous publications are available through Cimarron Press. Dickey earned a doctorate from Northwestern University, a master’s degree from the University of Iowa, and an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University. His former teachers include Rex Martin, John Manning, and Allan Horney.
