To the Parents of our RLMF Students…
Reminders
- Students must attend all scheduled classes and concerts and remain in attendance for the entire concert.
- No boys in any girls’ rooms ever—and vice versa.
- No riding in unauthorized vehicles, except for own parents or staff vehicles.
- No driving of a motor vehicle while at the Festival.
- Students may use bicycles for transportation while attending camp.
- No smoking or use of tobacco at any time, regardless of age.
- No alcoholic beverages or drugs at any time. (Montana law).
- Common sense room care at all times. Careless damage will be equally assessed to room occupants.
- Any accidental damage should be reported promptly to your counselor.
- Discipline problems will be addressed immediately by counselors and/or the Festival Director.
- Dress at concerts is a matter of respect. No jeans, shorts, or t-shirts, please.
- Students receiving financial aid will be at all assigned duties on time.
- Civic Center balcony is closed for evening concerts.

All performances will take place in the Red Lodge Civic Auditorium.

- Strings, mutes, reeds, valve oil (whatever applies to your instrument)
- Sticks for all percussionists
- Rockstops for all cello and bass students
- Pencils & notebook
- Any solo or ensemble literature you may wish to study
- Personal toiletry articles
- Girls, please bring extra wash clothes for makeup removal!
- Bicycles, if desired, with reliable lock. Motels are almost a mile from the civic center.

Clothing
Casual clothing may be worn to classes and rehearsals.
We require nice slacks or dresses/skirts to all concerts—no jeans, shorts, or T-shirts.
Bring enough dress clothes to attend 5 faculty recitals and your student concerts.
Bring warm coats and sweaters and an umbrella. The weather in Red Lodge is unpredictable!
Bring swim suits if you wish to use the pool.
Student Concert Dress: Thursday, Friday, and Sunday
Option 1: Long or short dresses or dress pants outfits. Dresses cannot be too short. Shirts tucked in, please. Dark shoes, dress if possible.
Option 2: Dark dress pants & dress shirt. Ties are recommended. Shirts tucked in, please. Dark shoes, dress shoes if possible.
Registration
Registration will take place on Saturday, June 6 from 1-3pm at the Roosevelt Middle School cafeteria (311 S. Oakes Ave)
There will be an optional parent meeting at 3pm in the Red Lodge Roosevelt Center (516 S. Broadway—enter from the back on Hauser Ave)
Auditions
Auditions will take place on Saturday, June 6 from 2-4pm following registration at posted audition sites—found during registration.
Audition materials are posted on the auditions page in the spring of 2026. Students are to prepare these materials, plus a 1-2 minute piece of solo literature. Solos need not be memorized. Sight reading is also part of the audition.
Honor Jazz Combo Auditions are separate—information can be found here.
Orchestra and wind ensemble seating will be announced on Sunday at rehearsal and is strategically designed to provide strength in each section.
Housing
Students will share rooms and beds (4 to a room in most cases, 2 to a bed). All students will check into housing units through the counselors after 1pm. Please check the housing lists posted at check-in to confirm where you are staying. Do not check into the motels before completing on-site registration!
Transportation
Students arriving in Billings by bus or airline may arrange for transportation to Red Lodge. Please make arrangements at least one week prior to arriving.

Students are not allowed, at any time, to ride in vehicles other than with camp staff or their own parents/guardians. Parents/guardians may designate, in writing before the camp’s opening day, another person to transport the student to or from camp.

Meals
Meals, except for Festival picnics, will be served in the Roosevelt Middle School cafeteria. The first meal will be Saturday, June 6 at 5:15pm, and the final meal will be Sunday, June 14 at noon.
Private Lessons
Private lessons may be arranged by the student with individual instructors uon arrival at the Festival.
Fees are $30 per half hour, payable in cash to the instructor.
Student Illness Policy
If the student is ill, he/she must contact a counselor immediately. Medical expenses due to illness, injury, or accident are the student’s responsibility. If the student is too ill to attend a recital, he/she will remain in their room and will not be allowed to leave for other activities that evening.
Discipline
All discipline problems will be addressed immediately by the counseling staff and/or Festival Director. If a student is sent home or leaves the camp early, no refund of fees will be made.
Early Release
Parents/guardians wishing to have their child released early from camp before the final performance on Sunday, June 14, please fill out the early release form and return before the beginning camp date, June 6, 2026.
